How much will it cost me to install the nbn utility box?

Once you have placed an order with GoInternet for an nbn plan, the standard installation of the nbn™ equipment at your home or business is currently free of charge and you will be regularly updated on the progress of the installation and order.

This information applies to FTTP (fibre to the premise technology). The information relevant to the technology being rolled out to your area will be provided when the nbn™ network is available at your address Check address to be notified when you can connect your home or business to the nbn™ network.

What does the nbn utility box look like?

Below is an illustration of the nbnTM utility box that will be affixed to an outside wall of your home or business.

The internal management console and battery backup can be installed internally at your convenient position.

Can I choose where the nbn utility box is installed at my home or business?

The standard practice is to install the utility box next to any existing telecommunications installations so as little disruption is made to your property as possible. It would also be a good recommendation to get your home wiring completed during the same time. Providing access to all rooms for network capability increases speed and reliability for all household members.

If you would like to request that the nbnTM utility box is installed in a specific location, you can discuss this with the contractor working in your area however you may incur a cost for this change. Contractors will be able to provide you with a free no-obligation quote.

I've had the nbn utility box installed. Can I now order services over the nbn network?

It is important to discuss this with us, we can add your address to the ‘please install’ list which will ensure at the first available opportunity and when the NBN is readily tested in and released in your area, you will be one of the first to have it installed. This is not automatic and to avoid delay, we recommend booking as soon as possible. You will not be charged any services until the area is released for install by nbnTM.

Do I need to be present for the nbn installation?

The nbnTM utility box will be installed on an outside wall of your home or business, so you don’t need to be present. If there are any issues accessing the outside of your home or business our contractors will speak to you directly if you are available. Alternatively they will leave their contact details for you to contact them.

Are my special business services exempt from being disconnected?

If you have business telecommunications services other than a standard landline phone or internet connection (like ISDN, frame relay, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Megalink and DDS), those services are currently exempt from being switched off and will continue to work until further notice.

How do we connect our business to the nbn network?

How will the nbn benefit my business?

Will EFTPOS terminals work on the nbn network?

The nbnTM network is capable of supporting the operation of some EFTPOS terminals, however we recommend that you speak to your bank/device provider to find out more information on the device compatibility and what’s involved in moving your service to the nbnTM network.

ADSL FAQ’s

What types of ADSL connections does GoInternet provide?

GoInternet provide ADSL2+ broadband connections where infrastructure is available. However, as Australia’s national broadband network is being rolled out across Australia, ADSL may not be available where nbn™ is live and accessible.

What plans and speeds are available with GoInternet on ADSL2+?

We provide our customers with the maximum speed available for ADSL2+ (20Mbps/1Mbps) at no extra cost and give you the upfront truth on your expected speed which may be affected with the distance from exchange, equipment or known issues. We will also provide you any feedback or comments from other customers in that area.

Are there any contracts with GoInternet ADSL2+ Plans?

We provide a range of flexible and customisable ADSL2+ broadband plans. From no contract, 12 months, 24 months through to 36 month plans.

nbn is currently not available in my area, if I setup an ADSL2+ plan with GoInternet can I upgrade to the nbn™?

Yes, if you have a ADSL connection with GoInternet we will upgrade you to the nbnTM at no additional cost. Terms and Conditions apply, contact us for details.

Modem FAQ’s

What modems does GoInternet provide?

Free modems are available with selected plans, with an option to upgrade to a high speed modem at an additional small cost. GoInternet choose modems from reputable brands which are backed by product warranties. View our Add on page to view current modems available with selected plans.

Can I use my existing modem with my ADSL2+ or nbn service with GoInternet?

Most retail modems should be ADSL2+ compatible and therefore should be able to be used with an ADSL2+ connection. However, in order to access an nbnTM connection, you need an nbnTM compatible modem. Please refer to your current modem manufacturers specifications and manual for details.
